Senior Accountant / Staff Accountant / Accountant

About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to join our team. The Accountant will be responsible for assisting in recurring accounting tasks, including preparing journal entries, maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger, preparing basic financial reports and monitoring internal controls over financial reporting.

Responsibilities
• Preparing journal entries and maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger
,
• Preparing basic financial reports and monitoring internal controls over financial reporting
,
• Assisting in recurring accounting analyses and account reconciliations
,
• Developing supporting workpapers and documentation
,
• Interacting with staff, management, and other customers in a friendly, courteous, professional and helpful manner
,
• Analyzing accounting transactions and issues
,
• Preparing and analyzing financial statements and other internal/external financial reports
,
• Enhancing internal controls over financial reporting
,
• Providing functional advice or training to less-experienced accountant positions
,
• Directing the work of other staff members

Requirements
• A Bachelor's degree in business discipline with at least 3 accounting courses
,
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
,
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
,
• 5 years accounting experience for Senior Accountant position

Nice-to-haves
• CPA or CMA exam eligibility
,
• 0-2 years related work experience, including co-operative/internship experience
,
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
,
• CPA or CMA certification or MBA
,
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years of accounting-related experience in public accounting, SEC reporting, and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
,
• Experience in utility accounting, public accounting and SEC reporting, and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
